Artist's Description

The aspens are all native to cold regions with cool summers, in the north of the Northern Hemisphere, extending south at high altitudes in the mountains. They are all medium-sized deciduous trees reaching 1530 m
(4998 ft) tall. Panel three of a triptych

All of the aspens typically grow in large clonal colonies, derived from a single seedling, and spread by means of root suckers; new stems in the colony may appear at up to 3040 m (98130 ft) from the parent tree. Each individual tree can live for 40150 years above ground, but the root system of the colony is long-lived. In some cases, this is for thousands of years, sending up new trunks as the older trunks die off above ground. For this reason, it is considered to be an indicator of ancient woodlands. One such colony in Utah, given the nickname of "Pando", is estimated to be 80,000 years old,[2] making it possibly the oldest living colony of aspens. Some aspen colonies become very large with time, spreading a...

About Sharon Duguay

Sharon Duguay

My art comes from within, and the process of creating allows me to express myself in countless ways. I receive inspiration from the world around me, as well, since there is no artist as perfect as Mother Nature's beauty! I refer to myself as a late bloomer, in a good way! I 'm also happy to share that I 'm completely self-taught, no professional training whatsoever. I prefer acrylics, even though, lately, I've gotten into using oils and love the way the colors blend so easily on the canvas. My commissioned paintings decorate the walls of many homes all across Canada, for which I am grateful. Recently, I placed 1st in -Woman Painter of Year 2015, a contest hosted by Women Painters on Fine Art America. What an honor! I am an...
